A castle, a cottage and a carriage? Bring it on, Irish Air…
At the risk of sounding like one of those jerks who perpetuate clichés, I adore some of the things considered “stereotypically Irish”. Of course no one actually thinks Ireland is a rural landmass full of fist-fighting, Guinness-swilling redheads who only eat potatoes. (I’m from Idaho. I can make potato jokes.) I’m speaking to the lush natural beauty of the landscape, history of poetic troubadours and long-standing traditions. Not pots of gold nestled into the rolling green hills. Let’s take a look…
Looming stone castles and blustering skies. Proving it is possible for something to look ‘quaint’ and ‘intimidating’ at the same time.
Craggy foothills envelop a thatched roof cottage – whitewashed with a red door, naturally.
In Ireland, even the natural marble is green…
I had to ‘reverse image search’ this bar to make sure it wasn’t in…Milwaukee or Australia or somewhere. I’d love to throw back some pints with this sharply-dressed old-timer at the cozy corner pub.
The source of your hand-knit sweater or jaunty tweed cap. And shepherd’s pie.
This hunter green woolen cape-shawl just looks right set against ostrich ferns.
Northern Ireland’s famous tree-tunnel path: mystical, gorgeous, one-of-a-kind.
It’s my opinion that Irish whiskey beats out bourbon, Canadian blends…and is clearly a much better deal than Scotch. This row of rustic barrels is charming.
The rugged coast and delicate golden wildflowers make a simply stunning vista.
