Mahindra launched the new Quanto months ago with new cosmetic upgrades to give it a fresh new look, and the main reason for such a strategy could be to possibly push sales. Since launch there hasn’t been many buyers for the car, not to a desirable level. Over the past months from January to June, the sale outcome of new Mahindra Quanto has not been up to the mark. From the period of January to March 2016 Mahindra sold 2, 123 and 1 unit of the car respectively and from April to June there weren’t any buyers for the car. Its most sought after fierce contender is Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The new Quanto is not on par with its competition, the profit generation value of this car is dismal compared to its arch rivals. From the period of January to June 2016, Hyundai sold 6589, 8196, 8163, 7900, 7057 and 7700 units of Creta respectively and from the periods of 2016 March to June Maruti Suzuki rolled out 5563, 7832, 7193 and 6673 units of Vitara Brezza.
Comparing the Power of New Quanto with Competitors:
The design of the new Quanto looks more striking than before, and it exhibits a sportier demeanor as well. Mahindra has given the car a new design outlook defined by the presence of a new black metal front grille covered with a sparkling silver finish and re-designed bumper, sporty bonnet, huge air dams and trendy fog lights surrounded by glossy chrome. The interior too looks more decked up than before, with better looking seat upholstery and center console. The company has replaced the gear knob with a new auto shift unit. The new Quanto is built with a 1.5-liter mHawk 80 3-cylinder diesel engine that generates potent energies of 230Nm and 84bhp and is coupled with five-speed manual gearbox. It moves on a mileage power of 13.8kmpl on urban roads and on highways it offers 17.2kmpl. It is offered within a price range of Rs 6.5 to 8 lakhs.
Hyundai Creta is a stunning car and engineered with the advanced 2.0 Fluidic sculpture technology. The design features that makes the car stand out is professionally sculpted hexagonal grille, powerful headlights with LED daytime running lights and fashionable seventeen-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. The interiors are stunning and luxurious with a marvelous touchscreen infotainment system, classy dashboard, center console, push start-stop button and so on. Customers can choose from three engine options, 1.4-liter diesel, 1.6-liter petrol and 1.6-liter diesel. The 1.4-liter diesel car yields 220Nm and 89bhp and the car is offered within a price range of Rs 9.3 to 14.5 lakhs.
Vitara Brezza is an all new compact SUV of Maruti Suzuki, and it bears a sophisticated and swanky design. The elegance of the exteriors is characterized by arty swept back headlights and honeycomb grille. The rear profile looks cool defined by creatively designed wrap around tail lights, light guides, spoiler and silver bash plate. The interior is loaded with features to the core, the top-end variant has refined leather seats, climate control system, electrically foldable outer rear view mirrors and start-stop function. The car is equipped with a four cylinder 1.3-liter turbocharged engine that churns efficient 89bhp power. It is sold within a price range of Rs 7.2 to 9.7 lakhs.
Despite having a well-defined sporty and tasteful exterior, jam packed interior features and power-packed engine, the new Quanto has not attracted many buyers when compared to competitors with the same level of feature richness Automobile cars.
